A French 18K gold, enamel and paste-set pocket watch, circa 1790. The back is decorated with translucent Imperial blue enamel over sunray engine-turning with rose-cut paste-set applied rosette, gold and coloured paillon border, paste-set bezel and border. Hinged gilt cuvette fixed to the movement ring. White enamel dial, upright Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and paste-set pierced hands. A gilt brass, full plate movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, engraved continental cock with polished steel endplate, and an index regulator on a silvered plate. Dial and movement signed.
