A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat rose gold open faced minute repeating lever watch, circa 1891. Retailed by Cowell & Hubbbard Co, Cleveland, Ohio. Nickel finished jeweled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, wolf’s tooth winding, minute repeating on two hammers on to a gong, repeat activated through a slide in the band. Inscribed rose gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute track with blue Arabic five minute divisions, sunken subsidiary seconds dial with blue Arabic numerals and later blued steel moon hands. Polished case, monogram to the hinged back cover. Case, cuvette, dial and movement signed by watchmaker, movement signed by retailer, case, cuvette and movement numbered.
