Heavy gold minute repeating lever watch

A very fine Swiss, heavy, minute repeating, 18K gold, half-hunting cased, keyless pocket watch, circa 1890. Accompanied by the original fitted box. Pocket Watch with Belgian Noble Arms LeCoultre & Co., retailed by Charles Grottendieck, Bruxelles. A polished case, the front cover with royal blue champleve enamel radial Roman numerals, glazed aperture, flat band, the back cover engraved with a Belgian noble coat of arms. Hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with unusual radial black Arabic numerals with red 12, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Gold Louis XVI hands. A matte gilt movement, 29 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with a terminal curve, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed by the retailer, movement signed LeCoultre & Co. under the hour hammer.
