Meridian Watch Company

The Meridian Watch Company was launched in November 2012 at the SalonQP event in London, England, with a mission to revive traditional English watchmaking. Founded by Simon Michlmayr and Richard Baldwin, the company established its headquarters and workshop in Norwich, Norfolk. The brand positioned itself as a “garagista” of English horology, offering a bespoke, hands-on alternative to mass produced timepieces.

The key pillars of Meridian’s history include:

  • English Craftsmanship: Meridian was committed to a “Made in England” ethos. Almost every component – including cases, case backs, dials and hands – was manufactured and assembled in the UK.
  • Locally Sourced Details: Even the leather and webbing straps were hand stitched by artisans in Surrey.
  • Swiss Mechanics: While assembled in England, Meridian used Swiss mechanical movements that were heavily hand finished and modified in-house.
  • The Meridian Prime: The company’s flagship timepiece was a rugged pilot’s watch designed for daily wear. It featured a sandwich style dial, open worked hands, and sapphire crystal coated by a British military contractor.
