Gold open faced key winding lever watch
–
A fine English 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch with gold vest chain, circa 1900. This watch has a mechanical key winding movement with a lever escapement. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals from 5 to 60, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock missing its hand, and gold filigree hands. The front crystal glass is missing. The timepiece is housed in a round three body, 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case. It features an elaborately engraved back cover decorated with detailed floral and foliage scrolls surrounding a central shield cartouche, a sturdy round suspension bow, and a solid 18 carat gold inner protective cuvette. The watch is accompanied by a matching 18 carat yellow gold vest chain with an integrated T-bar and a decorative tasselled fob.
