Chronometer with duplex escapement

An extremely heavy chronometer with duplex escapement, made by John Gibson in London, England, circa 1809. The numbered, plain and extremely heavy and high quality case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and bears the master’s mark DW. The white enamel dial features Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and high quality gold hands. The very fine movement is fitted with  a large chronometer balance, a diamond end stone, a duplex escapement and a magnificently engraved cock.
The case and movement have matching numbers and the dial and movement are signed.
