Gold pocket watch with Liverpool windows

An early hunting cased pocket watch with Liverpool windows made for A.T. Cochrane in New York by Morris L. Samuel in Liverpool, England, circa 1825. The case of this watch, crafted from 18 carat gold, is engine turned on both sides and features the monogram AV on the spring lid. The perfectly preserved white enamel dial features Roman hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and gold spade hands. The numbered and rare, patented movement is equipped with an early lever escapement, large sapphire bearings and so called Liverpool windows.
The case and movement bear matching numbers, and the case, dial, cuvette and movement are signed.
