A very fine and extremely rare English, large 18 Carat yellow gold, trip minute repeating, half hunting cased, a two train pocket watch, circa 1900. Grande & Petite Sonnerie Clockwatch by Charles Frodsham, 27 South Molton Street, London, By Appointment to The King, Ad. Fmsz, supplied by Nicole Nielsen & Co. The case with London hallmarks for 1900-1901. A massive, polished case by Emile Nielsen (master mark), spring loaded front cover with royal blue radial Roman numerals and inner minute track, the back cover engraved with a Baron’s coronet and crest, protected hand setting button, thief proof swivel bow. Hinged gold cuvette.

A solid silver dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. A frosted gilt, 3/4-plate movement, two train with Nicole Nielsen tandem winding, jewelled to the centre with screwed gold chatons, lateral counterpoised lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold temperature adjustment screws, double over coiled blued steel Breguet balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator, striking on gongs and repeating activated by a trip slide on the band. Dial and movement signed case punched with Emile Nielsen’s master mark.
