An English gilt metal open faced watch made for the Ottoman market, made by George Prior, London, circa 1820. A polished case with key winding, round shaped, pair case pocket watch. Engraved outer pair case with a cluster of arms decoration. White enamel dial with Turkish numerals and blued steel Poker and Beetle hands. A gilded brass movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement,  polished steel monometallic balance and blued steel flat hairspring, pierced and engraved gilded English cock with a moon crescent and a cypher, indistinctive letters, maybe “R G”. The dial and movement are signed.
