Gold open faced keyless verge watch

A fine English 18 carat yellow gold open faced double cased pocket watch made by Pasteur in London, circa 1775. This watch has a mechanical key wind movement with a verge escapement and a finely chased silver balance cock signed by Pasteur London. The gold champlevé dial shows Roman numerals for the hours on a dedicated ring, an outer minute track with Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, a central signed disc, and delicate hands. The timepiece is housed in a substantial 18 carat solid yellow gold inner case and a matching yellow gold outer counter case. The outer case features brilliant repoussé and amati decoration of Antique style scenes in foliage and is marked BRV on the back.
