Gold hunting cased pocket watch

A unique and very rare English 18 carat gold hunting cased pocket chronometer made by John Penlington in Liverpool, circa 1815. An engine turned case with both sided relief rim, a reeded band and a cuvette engraved with an English king’s coat of arms and inscribed Chronometer. The skeletonized movement with chain and fusee, a pivoted detent escapement and helical hairspring, the bridge with the signature of John Penlington from Liverpool, in which the g was replaced by an s, which was very common among English watchmakers of the time. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and extravagant gold hands.
