An English gilt and shagreen pair cased key wound pocket watch, circa 1760. Gilt brass full plate movement with finely pierced and engraved balance cock decorated with acanthus leaf scrolls and grotesque, silver Arabic regulation, verge escapement and fusee, back plate raised above four square baluster pillars,
White enamel dial with black Roman numerals bordered by minute track, Arabic divisions at five-minute intervals, rose metal fleur-de-lys hands.
Plain gilt inner pair case with maker’s mark M, outer finished with green shagreen. Movement signed Nat. Hedge, Colchester.
