–
An English gold, enamel, and pearl set pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1820. The watch features a gilded full plate movement with a cylinder escapement, diamond endstone, and a gilt dust cap; it is signed Berrud & Son of London. It has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, and spade hands. The 18 carat gold case showcases a polychrome enamel panel depicting a river scene with mountains in the background, an engine turned ground with translucent enamel to the sky, pearl set bezels, and enamel and engraved foliate decoration on the band. The case is hallmarked for London 1820.

The movement winds, but the balance rotates briefly before stopping. The dial is in good condition, though the hands and the glass are tarnished. The case has scratches on the enamel, with small chips in the enamel decoration.
