Gold open faced with duplex escapement

A very fine and rare, large English, quarter repeating, 18K gold pocket watch with duplex escapement, circa 1817-1818. A polished case, the back cover engraved with a coat of arms and the motto Non-Immemor Beneficii (not forgetful of a helping hand). Hinged gold cuvette. Gold dial, matted chapter ring with polished radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute indexes, subsidiary seconds, engine-turned centre. Blued steel spade hands. A frosted gilt, full plate movement, the barrel secured by a bridge, fusee and chain, Harrison’s maintaining power, jewelled single-wheel duplex escapement, plain three-arm gold balance, flat blued steel balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator, repeating on blued steel gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Movement signed.
