A fine English gentleman’s pocket watch with duplex escapement, and dedication engraving in commemoration of the English philanthropist George Moore, circa 1860.
Engine-turned 18-carat gold case, gold dome with presentation engraving: T. H. Chester In loving memory of George Moore, who died Nov. 21st 1876, and case maker’s punch mark AS (Alfred Stram). Signed white enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minutes track, subsidiary dial for the seconds, and gold spade hands. Signed 3/4 plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, gold screw compensation balance.
