Gold hunting cased pocket watch

A very fine and rare English, 18K yellow gold hunting cased pocket chronometer with Earnshaw type spring detent escapement and helical balance spring, circa 1872.  Made by James Mc Cabe, Royal Exchange, London. The case is made by Alfred Stram with London hallmarks for 1872-1873. A polished case, cover with monogram and crest. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and subsidiary seconds. Gold fleur de Lys hands.

A frosted gilt movement, half-plate, jewelled to the first in screwed Chaton, fusee and chain, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, gold escape wheel with end-stones in screwed Chaton, diamond endstone, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold and platinum timing screws and nuts, free-sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Dial case and movement signed and numbered.
