An English heavy rare half hunting cased pocket watch with 30h power reserve indicator, circa 1872. The watch features an 18-carat polished gold case with a gold dome, Roman numerals, and a case maker’s punch mark AS. Its enamel dial showcases radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, a 30-hour power reserve indicator at 12, and blued double spade hands. The 3/4 plate movement of the watch is keywind, frosted, gilt, and signed. It has screwed chatons, a chain/fusee, a florally engraved barrel, an English lever escapement, a bimetallic chronometer balance, and a fine florally engraved balance cock.

Paul Philip Barraud was renowned for his precise chronometers. He was a Fellow of the Clockmakers Company from 17 to 1813 and served as a Master from 1810 to 1811. In 1838, he formed a partnership with John Richard Lund, who eventually took over the company after Barraud’s passing.
