Gold minute repeater by James Mc Cabe

A very fine and rare English, small 18K yellow gold half hunting cased, minute repeating pocket watch with duplex escapement, circa 1872. Made by James Mc Cabe, Royal Exchange, London. Case by Alfred Stram with London Hallmarks for 1872-1873. Engine-turned, cover with aperture and enamelled Roman chapters, reeded band. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and subsidiary seconds. Gold spade hands. A frosted gilt, half-plate, jewelled to the third in screwed Chaton, fusee and chain, duplex escapement with a ruby roller, gold escape wheel with end stones in screwed chatons, diamond endstone, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold and platinum timing screws, blued steel flat balance spring, repeating on gongs via a slide in the band. Dial case and movement signed and numbered.
