A fine and unusual Swiss, hunting cased, keyless, quarter repeating, 14K pink gold pocket watch with automaton, circa 1890. Made for the Russian market. Engine-turned covers, the front with a shield-shaped cartouche with flower and foliate border. Hinged gold cuvette with prize medals and technical details, glazed gold-rimmed cover over the movement.

Red translucent guilloche enamel dial with gold paillon Arabic numerals, outer gold paillon dot minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, translucent blue guilloche enamel with varicoloured jacks in peasant costume striking bells at the top of. Gilt Louis XV hands. A matte gilt movement, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, repeating on gongs activated by a push-button in the band. Cuvette signed Edda Watch Co., movement signed A. Lugrin under the quarter hammer.
