A museum quality gold and enamel verge pocket watch with matching chatelaine made by Valére in Paris, France, circa 1770. The open faced case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold, is set with Oriental half pearls on both sides and the back lid has a fine polychrome enamel painting. The white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions with Arabic fifteen minutes and decorative pink gold hands. The movement has a verge escapement. The watch is accompanied by a corresponding gold chatelaine with enamelled plaques having paintings on both sides, a gold and enamel key, a gold and enamel seal and an old chatelaine box (originally belonging to another watch, but original from the time).
