Gold important chronograph
–
An important anker chronometer with chronograph made by L. Leroy & Cie successors to the Ancienne Maison Leroy & Fils in Paris, France, circa 1890. The numbered case of this watch, crafted from 18 carat gold, features a dedication on the cuvette Au Docteur J. Pioger Souvenir affectueux André et Raymond Stouvenaut 1er Janvier 1890 (To Dr J. Pioger with fondest memories) and a monogram on the back lid. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, fifth of a second divisions, Arabic five minute markers, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and gold spade hands. The extremely unusual movement is fitted with an anker chronometer escapement, especially large chronometer balance, wolf’s toothing and a chronograph with central minute counter.
The cuvette is numbered and signed on the inside.
