Le Roy
Abraham-Louis Breguet and the founders of Le Roy & Fils were contemporaries active in Paris during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Both watchmaking houses were established in Paris around the same time and catered to the same elite clientele, including King Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and later Napoleon Bonaparte.
–
Breguet: Founded by Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747–1823) in 1775 on the Quai de l’Horloge.
–
Le Roy & fils: Founded by Basile-Charles Le Roy (1765–1839) in 1785 at the Palais-Royal.
–
The specific name “Le Roy & Fils” was adopted in 1828 when Basile-Charles took his son into partnership, just five years after the elder Breguet’s death.
