An extremely unusual miniature Lépine watch from the estate of French nobility in the original sales box, made by Samuel Devaulx in Paris, France, circa 1840. The numbered case of this watch, which was crafted from 18 carat gold, features an engine turned back with a decoration in the center and a coined band. The silvered dial features a minutes and hours outer track with Roman hour numerals, a florally engraved center and gold Breguet hands. The movement is equipped with a cylinder escapement.
The cuvette is signed.

Samuel Devaulx (sometimes spelt De Vaux) was a well known pocket watchmaker active in Paris during the 19th century. He was particularly known for his refined pocket watches, often richly decorated with enamel and precious metals, which were sold from prestigious locations such as the Palais-Royal.
