Gold open faced verge watch
–
A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch from the second quarter of the 19th century. It has a mechanical movement with a verge escapement and a key winding system, including its winding key. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals (5–60), and openwork blued steel hands. The 18 carat yellow gold case has a hinged back cover with a guilloché pattern featuring a central cartouche surrounded by engraved foliage, flanked by a finely reeded caseband. The case includes a smooth, rounded bow ring on a cylindrical stem. Inside, a solid gold dust cover protects the mechanism.
