Gold open faced keyless cylinder watch
–
An exceptional French 18 carat yellow gold and diamond set open faced pendant watch made by Dumoret in Paris, circa 1880. It has a handwound mechanical movement with a cylinder escapement, signed Dumoret 5 Rue de la Paix, Paris, on the inner gold dome. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic numerals from 5 to 60, and stylized hands. The timepiece is housed in a round 18 carat yellow gold open faced case with a diamond paved bezel and back cover. It has a hand setting corrector on the caseband. The watch hangs from a matching gold chatelaine set with diamonds in falling spiral motifs, topped by a diamond paved count’s crown brooch.
