A French 18 carat yellow gold keyless pocket watch made by Charles Oudin in Paris, circa 1880. It features a hand wound mechanical movement signed Charles Oudin, Palais Royal 52, with lever escapement, bimetallic compensated balance, blued steel helical balance spring, and wolf tooth ratchet and crown wheel. The white enamel dial features Roman numerals for hours, Arabic numerals for minutes, a railway minute track, small seconds at 6 o’clock, and pear shaped hands. It is also signed Charles Oudin, Palais Royal 52. The case has a monogrammed back and an inner yellow gold cuvette engraved with: Horloger de la Marine, No 26618, Charles Oudin, breveté, Palais Royal 52, Paris, Médailles aux expositions depuis 1806, bearing the French horse’s head hallmark (1838–1919). The dial, cuvette, and movement are all signed.
