Gold open faced key winding verge watch
–
A fine French 18 carat rose gold open faced pocket watch made by Jean Jodin in Paris, circa 1760. This watch has a mechanical key winding gilt brass movement with open barrel, balance wheel, verge escapement, and a beautifully pierced and engraved balance cock signed Jean Jodin Paris. The white enamel dial shows black Arabic numerals for the hours, outer minute markers with Arabic numbers at 15, 30, 45, and 60, a winding aperture at 10 o’clock, and gold hands. The timepiece is housed in an 18 carat solid rose gold open faced case featuring a small works discharge hallmark, skeleton back, sturdy round suspension bow, and is accompanied by a later protective double gilt brass outer case.
