A fine French 18K gold, enamel and pearl set pocket watch, circa 1790. The case with split pearl set bezels, the back enamel panel painted with a scene of a seated young lady in a landscape playing the musical box, a bird in a gold paillon cage hanging from a tree to her right, translucent royal blue background, paillon border. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer gold dot minute divisions and fleur de lis hands. A hinged gilt brass full plate movement with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end piece. Movement signed.
