A fine English 18K yellow gold pocket watch, circa 1862.The case with London hallmarks for 1862-1863. A polished bezel, engine-turned band, the back cover engraved with a lattice and flowerhead design and a central vacant cartouche. Fixed gold cuvette with winding and hand-setting apertures and a hinged and sprung dust cap. Gold dial with applied gold radial Roman numerals on an engine-turned chapter ring, outer dot minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, the centre engraved with flowers on a sunray engine-turned ground and gold Breguet hands. Hinged, gilt-brass, three-quarter plate movement, fusee and chain with maintaining power, jewelled to the third wheel, lateral lever escapement, three-arm gold balance, fl at balance spring, index regulator. Movement signed.
