A fine and rare French, 18k gold and painted on enamel pocket watch with a double date calendar, circa 1760. The back painted with a courting scene in the countryside within a foliate border, the inside painted with a bouquet of flowers, the bezel painted with the continuous landscape, the inside bezel with flowers. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute ring with five-minute Arabic numerals, inner day of the week scale and outer date scale, winding aperture between 3 and 4 o’clock.

Gold beetle and poker hour and minute hands, blued steel calendar hands. Hinged, gilt brass full-plate movement with pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental cock, polished steel endplate, silver regulation disc. Movement signed.
