Gold watch made for the 50th anniversary of the Red Cross

A very rare and impressive Swiss 18 carat yellow gold hunting cased keyless lever chronometer pocket watch, circa 1913. With chronograph, instantaneous 30 minute register, pulsometer and high relief case. Medical Chronograph, After the Battle, made for the 50th anniversary of the Red Cross by Vacheron & Constantin in Geneva, the high relief scene by Germain Pochon & Fils in Geneva. Sold in Argentina the same year.

A solid, polished case, the front cover cast and chased in high relief with a scene of the aftermath of a battle, the Red Cross treating the wounded. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Arabic hours, an outer minute and fifth of a second track with five minute numerals, an outermost red pulsometer scale, a 30 minute register at 12 o’clock, subsidiary seconds at 6 and gold spade hands. Frosted gilt movement with 25 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan neck micrometre regulator and visible chronograph mechanism. Dial, case and movement signed.
