A decorative French verge pocket watch “Oignon”, circa 1700.
Brass fire gilt case with engraved foliate decor and large lateral hinge. Gilt champlevé dial with enamel cartouches, blue radial Roman numerals, finely chased and engraved acanthus and foliate decoration in the centre and blued steel hands. Fine full plate movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, signed, chain/fusee, Egyptian movement pillars, applied blued iron click work, verge escapement, three arm iron balance, large florally engraved and pierced balance bridge, silver regulator disc.
