There are a lot of watchmakers called Matthey (or Mathey) listed, mostly situated in Switzerland, but also some in Paris. We classify the present watch as French, the Comp ͤ is the English label for ‘the companion’ (Cie in French). The watch belongs in style to France but was produced for the English market and therefore was signed with Matthey et Comp ͤ.
