Gold open faced cylinder watch by Breguet et fils

A fine, French quarter repeating à toc gentleman’s pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement and Breguet extract from the archives, circa 1806. Sold on August 10, 1806, for 1600 Francs to Monsieur Bazilio, an important customer of the firm.
18 Carat rose gold, engine-turned case with engine-turned band, case maker’s punch mark PBT (Pierre-Benjamin Tavernier), and pusher for repetition via pull and twist piston in the pendant. Gold dial with an engine-turned centre, inlaid radial Roman numerals, blued Breguet hands and signed: Breguet et Fils. And a keywind, frosted, gilt bridge movement with one hammer, shock protection-parachute, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance, and flat blued balance spring with temperature compensation.

This is a very good example of the firms standard repeating watch, but quite an early example of the elegant pull and twist pendant. The Breguet workbooks show that this watch was sold on August 10th, 1806, to a Mr Bazilio, an important customer of the firm.
