A Swiss 18K gold quarter repeating hunting cased pocket watch with concealed erotic automaton, circa 1890. Attributed to Lugrin, Swiss. A solid, polished case, the front cover engraved with a star within a crescent moon. Hinged gold cuvette concealing the erotic automaton scene in polychrome painted on enamel depicting Mephistopheles, Faust and Marguerite on an engraved silvered backplate. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds and blued steel spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement with wavy-line decoration, 17 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band.
