Rock crystal pendant watch by Nicolas Bernard
–
A fine, extremely rare, small French rock crystal and gilt metal single-handed pendant watch, circa 1620.
A remarkable timepiece, this antique clock features a gilt-brass full plate signed movement with early Egyptian pillars and a verge escapement. The small florally pierced and engraved gilt brass pinned cock is a testament to the intricate craftsmanship of its era. The gilt metal dial boasts Roman chapters and half-hour markers, with the centre engraved with a stunning landscape. The outside of the dial is adorned with intricate floral decorations and angels, complemented by a blued steel hand. The octagonal case of this clock is equally impressive, with its back and cover made of faceted rock crystal. This unique design adds to the overall elegance and sophistication of the timepiece.
