Rock crystal Renaissance style pendant watch
–
A magnificent Renaissance style pendant watch made by Jacques Jérôme Gudin in Paris, France, circa 1800. The open faced case of this watch, crafted from silver, enamel and rock crystal of excellent quality, has faceted rock crystal on both sides, silver settings, polychrome enamel decoration and is gilded and enamelled on the inside. The particularly fine dial features excellent enamel work with floral motifs in the center, black Roman hour numerals on a white enamel chapter ring, half hour markers, outer minute divisions and, probably, original hands. The numbered movement has a verge escapement.
The movement is signed.
