A French very fine single-handed verge clock watch with hour self strike, circa 1680.
Gilt full plate movement, pierced and engraved balance cock, three arm steel balance, going train and striking mechanism driven by two pierced barrels with foliate motif, blued steel count wheel. White enamel dial, Roman numerals, half and quarter hour track and single steel hand. The case back finely pierced and engraved with an intricate foliate designed, associated wooden shagreen outer case with applied silver monogram to the centre. Movement signed.
