Gold, bloodstone and diamond set watch
–
A French diamond set watch in a gold and bloodstone case shaped like a tube, circa 1750, probably by an imitator of Abraham-Louis Bréguet. This piece boasts a gilt full plate keywind movement with a verge escapement and a beautifully pierced and engraved balance cock. The enamel dial features Roman radial hours, an outer minutes track, and spade hands, while the edge of the dial is adorned with diamonds. The bloodstone case is crafted in the shape of a tube and is embellished with applied gold engraved decorations. The watch is believed to have been crafted by a skilled imitator of the renowned Abraham-Louis Bréguet, active in Paris during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The works are delicately signed in script, bearing the name Breguet 33.
