Louis XV gold pocket watch
–
A very rare large Louis XV gold full hunter cased watch, made by Julius Assmann in Glashütte, Germany, circa 1900. The numbered Louis XV case of this watch was crafted from 14 carat gold and has a large outer hinge. The cuvette has an inscription C. Jägermann Nachf. Berlin W.  The stepped white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial and original gold hands. The numbered glazed movement has a highly refined Glashütte precision lever escapement, a gold lever, a gold escape wheel and a fine adjusting device.
Case and movement have matching numbers and dial and movement signed.

This watch is a Glashütte rarity. It probably comes from a special series that Assmann made for Jägermann in Berlin and has its own numbering system, probably for a small series. Here the number 32.
