Gilt brass open faced coach clock by Jost Müller

An important, single handed German coach clock with alarm and excellent engraving work in fascinating artistic quality and execution, circa 1600.
Brass, fire gilt case, florally decorated with pierced and engraved silver band and rear bell. Brass, fire gilt dial with around the edge very finely engraved grotesque decor with flower scrolls, mythical creatures and the face of an angel, applied silver chapter ring with radial Roman hours, a turnable gilt and engraved alarm disc with Arabic numerals to the centre and single iron hand. Full plate movement, firegilt, signed, with applied florally engraved and pierced decorations, chain/fusee, baluster-shaped movement pillars, barrel with applied florally engraved and pierced decorations, 1 hammer, verge escapement, applied blued iron click work and three-arm brass ring balance with spring. Original lavishly decorated key.
