A rare pair cased German verge pocket watch with date and day indication, circa 1690
Pair cases: outer case – silver, applied shagreen with stud decoration, large lateral hinge; inner case – silver, polished, the inner rim with engraved months and their length. Silver dial, Champlevé, inlaid Roman hours, outer date ring with Arabic numerals, segment-shaped aperture for indication of the day and its regent and symbol of its planet, single Louis XV hand. Full plate movement, keywind, applied, pierced and engraved silver monogram cartouche, chain/fusee, movement pillars with engraved cupids symbolizing the four seasons, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, blued balance spring, florally engraved, pierced balance cock.
