Split lid with representation of two putti
–
A snuff box with integrated concealed watch, made by Johann Schmidt in Strehlen near Dresden, Germany, circa  1720. The silver case of this watch features a plain back lid and a split front lid engraved with two putti, each accompanied by a Latin motto. The putto on the right gestures toward the pocket watch, which is concealed beneath the right-hand lid. The silvered dial features an outer minute track with Arabic 5 minute numerals, Roman hour numerals and gold hands. The movement is fitted with a verge escapement.
