After the universal day of 24 hours beginning at Greenwich midnight was adopted during the International Meridian Conference in October 1884, watches that showed two time zones quickly became very popular. This timepiece was produced for Marcks & Co., one of the best-established watch and jewellery traders on the Indian subcontinent; it has an enamel ring on the back that shows the local time of 58 world cities.
