Silver quarter repeating verge pocket watch
–
An especially large quarter repeating automaton with Jacquemart made in Switzerland, circa 1810. The open faced case of this watch is crafted from silver, has an engine turned back and bears the maker’s mark J.T. The face has a white enamel chapter ring with Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions and blued steel moon hands, the skeletonized center with a magnificent multicoloured gold Jacquemart figure automaton, showing three angel figures, birds, butterflies and flowers, which can be set in motion by releasing the repeater. The movement has a verge escapement.
