Repeating watches strike the hour on demand by either a push-piece or a bolt in the band. The minute repeating mechanism has two gongs, one low one for the hours and a high one for the minutes. The quarter hours are indicated by a succession of high and low tones. Further highlighting this open faced minute repeating watch is that it is made especially for Spaulding & Co, the famous American retailer from Chicago. What further distinguishes this watch is the ultra-thin movement and a quarter-plate calibre.
