A fine English gold open faced quarter repeating pocket watch with armorials, circa 1820. Gilt finished full plate movement, duplex escapement, balance cock engraved with sunburst pattern, diamond endstone, plain three armed gold balance, plunge repeat. Gold cuvette stamped ‘LC’. Gilt textured dial with large gold Arabic numerals and sub seconds. Case to the back finely chased and engraved with the arms of Mary Cole (1767-1844), the Widow of the 5th Earl of Berkeley, the Dowager Countess of Berkeley, glazed cover over the armorials, reeded band. Cuvette and movement signed.
