A rare and unusual Swiss gilt-brass open faced keyless lever deck watch with power reserve and patented compensation balance, circa 1925. Gilt finished highly jewelled lever movement, patented uncut compensation balance with two small bimetallic auxiliary affixes on the rim, Elinvar hairspring, pinion micrometer regulator. Silvered matte dial with Roman numerals, two subsidiary dials for 36 hours power reserve and constant seconds. Plain case, screw bezel, the back secured by three screws in the brass bound three tier mahogany box, external winding and hour setting crown at the back, a metal plaque inscribed Solvil Greenwich Time to the inside cover. Case numbered, dial and movement signed.
