An English 18 carat gold pair-cased verge pocket watch, circa 1750 and 1816. Retailed by Green & Ward, London. Gilt full plate movement, verge escapement, winged pierced and engraved balance cock with foliate scrolls and a mask. Late white enamel dial, gold spade hands. Associated inner case, stamped IG and with London hallmark for 1816, the outer case with armorial engravings, London hallmark for 1750, maker’s mark C.C. Movement signed and numbered. Comes with a heavy gold curb link chain, an unusual three-part Carnelian fob seal, the largest and exterior fob with an engraved coat of arms, the middle with a monogram, the smallest with the family crest, fitted box.
