Gold open faced minute repeating chronograph by H.R. Ekegren

A fine Swiss 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating split seconds chronograph keyless lever watch, circa 1895. Made for J.E. Caldwell, Philadelphia. Nickel finished 3/4 plate jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, minute repeating on two hammers onto two gongs. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals and subsidiary seconds. Plain case, repeating slide in the band, split second chronograph functions operated by a button in the band and through the crown. Case signed by retailer and numbered, cuvette signed by maker and retailer and numbered, dial signed by maker, movement signed by maker and numbered.
